There has been a lot of games that have come out for the PS4, some remakes to previous games such as Odin Sphere Leifthrasir and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. However, there is one remake that definitely excelled in every department as far as entertainment to gameplay to character personality; that game is Ratchet and Clank PS4.

The remastered version of the game was excellent and everything that I expected from a Ratchet and Clank game. Ratchet and Clank PS4 is the remastered version of the PS2 original, it cannot be argued that this game was definitely better than its predecessor.

Utter garbage!

The weapons are different and more hard-hitting, Ratchet’s personality has been completely overhauled (for lack of a better word) and a lot of elements from previous game made an appearance here such as the RYNO, the weapon leveling system to name a few.

I am going to talk about everything that made this game, Ratchet and Clank PS4, great and some of the more noticeable elements in the game. So having said that, here’s my Ratchet and Clank PS4 Review.

As anyone who remembers the first Ratchet and Clank for the PS2, Ratchet was a selfish, ignorant, egotistical and self-absorbed jerk who only looked out for himself.

Ratchet, Grade A ass!

Also, he was very patronizing and ugly toward Clank; it was a disgusting display of childish behavior on Ratchet’s part. I get that growing up alone can change people or cause them to be very cold to other people, but Ratchet took it too far.

Now, in Ratchet and Clank PS4, Ratchet was a completely different person and that is part of what motivated me to do the Ratchet and Clank PS4 Review. The other reason I felt motivated was because playing with Ratchet was a completely new experience especially how he was so eager to help Clank solve whatever problem he had.

Ratchet and Clank PS4

See the difference, Ratchet cares!

Also, there was always something to learn when you played with Ratchet like him working for his boss Grimoth. I liked that Ratchet behave like a hero and to come to the conclusion of doing the right thing early on.

You’ll want to and wish you could have a couple of beers with Ratchet because he so cool and open-minded in the game which drew me in. I would go so far as to say that Ratchet’s character overall was my reason for playing the game.

RYNO, easier to obtain

Generally, an ultimate weapon is known to be so powerful that it pretty much make all previous weapons look like and feel like crap power-wise. The RYNO is the ultimate weapon in every Ratchet and Clank game including this one. I wanted to take the time to emphasize through my Ratchet and Clank PS4 Review of how easy the game made it for gamers to get the RYNO.

From experience, I came up with 150,000 bolts to get the RYNO in the PS2 version of Ratchet and Clank and it was murder simply because bolt grinding was terrible, time-consuming and ultimately not worth it.

Ratchet and Clank PS4 made sure gamers had an easier time obtaining the weapon which added to the overall replayability and gameplay of the game.

What I loved about Ratchet and Clank PS4 is that you could acquire the RYNO by finding the holocards of the RYNO which were pretty much sitting out in plain sight as you played the game.

Ultimately, two of the RYNO holocards had to be obtained through hoverboard racing on Rilgar and Kalebo III. Winning the Gold Cup in both races awarded you with said holocards.

And Ultimately This!

The Map – o – Matic, which makes a return in this game, will help you find all the RYNO holocards which made finding the holocards a delight – for lack of a better word.

Ratchet and Clank PS4

I love this thing

Let’s face it, Ratchet and Clank games are all about the weapons because they kick ass and are awesome. This game’s weapons are no different. No Ratchet and Clank PS4 Review is complete without talking about the weapons. First, the weapons are again, awesome and can be leveled up thru frequent use.

Ratchet and Clank PS4

The weapons in Ratchet and Clank PS4 were more than just a way to kill enemies; they could solve problems as well, at least that is how I used them. For example, the Proton Drum lets out a lethal shockwave that deals continuous damage to enemies until it burns out. I found a use for this when there are blarg enemies on turrets; the weapons in the game could be used more creatively to destroy enemies as well.

Ratchet and Clank PS4

One of my other favorite weapons, the Combuster

Another example, the Pyrocitor, I used the Pyrocitor on ALL small enemies including the Ameboids. I used the Warmonger on big enemies, bosses and warbots. The Combuster, I used it on those annoying Blarg-copters and single attack targets to name a few. There has not been a Ratchet and Clank game where you could use weapons creatively since Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus.

Gold Bolts’ Purpose

As any gamer will remember that in the original Ratchet and Clank PS2, the gold bolts were used to buy the Golden Weapons which were available on Planet Oltanis during the initial playthrough of the game.

Ratchet and Clank PS4

There you have it!

The Gold Bolts in Ratchet and Clank PS4 allowed gamers to access and use the Infinite Ammo and Invincibility cheat which they also could while playing through the game; I didn’t though.

I feel that it is important that gamers know through my Ratchet and Clank PS4 Review that getting the Gold Bolts served a better purpose than the original’s gold weapons which were not worth it by a longshot. To put a finer point on this, the Gold Bolts were easier to find even without the Map – o – Matic.

Ratchet and Clank PS4

Overall, Ratchet and Clank PS4 was a great and welcomed remake in a long line of remakes to come along on the PS4 such as the masterpiece, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir.

Gamers, if you have not played this game then I have personal message for you, do not forsake or ignore this game. Ratchet and Clank PS4 is a worthwhile remake that deserves the highest honors within the video game realm. I give it a 10/10.

    Great review!

Man, this brings back memories… These games are so much fun and I honestly didn’t even know they were making a remake.

Thanks for the valuable information! I’m glad they decided to make Ratchet more likable, it was one of the few gripes I had with the original.

Your blog has made me consider actually buying the game! In fact I probably will when my finances get better. Thanks for this great article! Have a great day!

Thanks for the props, Dragon Slayer; I appreciate it. Yeah, the game is good to go and you’ll like it on account of them redesigning some of the weapons like the Pyrocitor; they also have new weapons like the Proton Drum which, when shot out, will damage enemies within the blast radius of the orb. The RYNO is easier to get in this game as well, definitely buy it; you will not regret it.
