Ratchet and Clank PS4, as many gamers know, is a remastered version of the original for the PS2. While there are similarities between the two, there is no denying that the PS4 version is better by far. From experience, this game was the most interesting remastered version of a game that I’ve ever played next to Odin Sphere Leifthrasir.
A close second to Odin Sphere Leifthrasir!
Normally, I wouldn’t be replaying a game that I already have but Ratchet and Clank PS4 was far different from anything I expected. The game had everything a gamer could ask for in a game and I did not feel disappointed in the least bit by the game. Having said that, I felt motivated to create my own game strategies for the game or things that caught my attention.
Pokitaru, a level in need of strategies
Many of the game strategies and information that I have used have come through for me in a pinch and I can say with 100% certainty that it’ll do the same for any gamer, I made this with the intent that if there is anyone out there just playing the game for the first time they’ll know what to do in those critical spots as well as the weapons to use.
Plenty of places in the game where you’ll be using this
The game is not extremely hard by any means and my game strategies will keep it that way. That said, here are my game strategies.
When you arrive on a new planet, check your map. Sometimes there are hidden paths or places that can be accessed now or later. The important thing is that you’ll know where they are.
Check this always, you never know what you’ll see
The Fusion Grenade is THE weapon to use on crowds and big enemies like tanks as well as big flying enemies like drop ships and enemy copters. If you press Up on the directional pad, you can quickly access your Fusion Grenades.
You can even hold one in your hands without throwing it by pressing L2 then press R2 to throw it. You can do this with other weapons as well even rearrange the order of which you access them.
The Pyrocitor is THE go to weapon for enemies that are small and fast like the sand sharks on Aridia or even the smaller ameboids on Rilgar
The Combuster is ideal for dealing with single enemies; preferably enemies that you can take out one by one, and flying enemies.
Don’t be caught without it!
The Proton Drum is great for crowd control as well as useful on metallic enemies, it’s the most useful when you launch it at your enemies at a distance to get the drop on them. Also, it’s handy for unassing your Blargian enemies from their turrets. Keep that in mind.
One of my favorite weapons
Clank’s helipack upgrade comes in handy when you need a “lift”. Try it at the train station on Kerwan, I think you’ll find the treasures hidden amongst the giant crates a real “find”.
Mr. Zurkon is an excellent weapon when you’re low on health or don’t want to get up close and personal with enemies.
Very useful and very funny!
The Predator Launcher is a weapon you want at your side when you’re trying to destroy enemies who are far away from you and that you can get the drop on like the Blargian guards on Planet Gaspar; it gives you a chance to work on your dodging while it takes the enemy out.
Another fav, and also dangerous
The Warmonger is THE penultimate weapon; useful for big stubborn enemies like warbots, and bosses not to mention enemies who need a little something to “convince” them to move on
The Buzz Blades are good for smaller targets/enemies that are close together not to mention enemies that are quick on their feet.
The Glove of Doom is ideal when you don’t want to get your hands dirty and trying to conserve health; a good substitute if you run out of ammo using Mr. Zurkon.
If you look slightly right when you exit the garage, you’ll see a black ramp; come back with the magneboots.
Remember this for later
In the Galactic Ranger fair/training grounds, look around for a hidden holocard pack; getting it now is essential because you won’t be able to later on unless you plan on playing thru the game again.
The Pyrocitor is here, buy it. The logic, the ameboids; enough said
This is it, exactly!
There a few secrets here that I think the gamer should very well note!
As any gamer knows, a level is only as lethal as the secrets its guarding. Observe!
Upon arriving at the train station, use Clank’s helipack to explore the areas behind the crates.
Like here, secret #2
And here, secret #3
Your Fusion Grenades and Combuster are the perfect weapons to deal with the Blargs on the train; don’t bother with your Proton Drum, you’ll just waste ammo.
While riding the train, a Blarg in a helicopter will come along and harass you. Unsheathed your Fusion Grenades, hold it with L2 and launch with R2 after you dodge his shots. Alternative: Use your Combuster if it’s easier.
Case in point!
Toward the end of the train ride, you’ll encounter 2 Blarg copters and a Blarg gunmen. Use a Proton Drum on the gunmen then use your Combuster to down the copters. Make use of the giant crate as cover from enemy fire.
The perfect cover
Your Pyrocitor will get a lot of use here, the sand sharks are ideal targets for this weapon. Use it and end their pus filled lives.
In the sand shark area, there’s a secret worth investigating; in fact you should. Behold!
The platform on which the Hydrodisplacer rests has a secret under the platform; get it.
Secret #2, not so secret!
Use Mr. Zurkon in the conveyor belt area to get rid of the “mechanical trash” that’s lying around in wait.
The Ameboids make a return here, pull out the Pyrocitor and let them have it. Alternative: Use your Proton Drum to help thin the herd so you’re not just going through your flamethrower ammo.
Because you just simply have to
When you first arrive in Blackwater City, take the right path; do the left thereafter. Or you can do the left first then the right afterward; the choice is yours alone.
Journeying thru Blackwater City will land you in what look like a dungeon area, your Groovitron and Mr. Zurkon will help clean house and you’ll get them to the next level if you’re lucky.
Be ready for anything down here!
The hoverboard races is a good time as any to use the race boosters, keep on the lookout for Gold Bolt #6; the turquoise boost rings are the key to getting it. Place first and complete the Silver Cup then the Gold Cup.
The boost rings are the “thing”
Buy the Pixelizer and when you do, use it on the Ameboids; it takes them out in a couple of hits.
When you are running to get away from the rising water, press R1 to keep ahead; be mindful of the Ameboids. Don’t use your weapons on them. Just Run!
Pre Nebula G34
Return to Kerwan, I seem to recall a Trespasser lock that you had to ignore earlier and the treasure that lie within mocking you, take care of both now.
Secrets out in plain sight
Nebula G34 station
Not long after arriving here, head to the right and send Clank out to investigate the airlock. Investigate everything not nailed down.
As you’re exploring with Clank alone, you’ll come across a room with a generator and two gadgebots. This room and the next one acts as a puzzle that you must solve before you can leave. Here’s the solution.
Not that hard, but not that easy
You’ll encounter some Blargian toads here, pixelize their ass!
Upon entering the Blargian Warship, you’ll wander into some Blarg Commanders. Your Fusion Grenades, Combuster or Mr. Zurkon will lay waste to the enemy masses here. Oh yeah, and use the Groovitron to minimize resistance.
Strategy, thy name is Ratchet!
After getting the Predator Launcher, you’ll need to escape. Press R1 continuously to stay ahead of the clock; don’t stop to shoot anyone or anything.
Running away is the better option!
Back inside Nebula G34 station
You’ll come to a room with two capsules that have Alien Snappers in them, use your new Predator Launcher along with your Groovitron and end them; it helps to free and take on one at a time.
I hate these things!
Going head to head with the Blargian Snagglebeast means using all of your weapons so do just that. Forget weapon leveling courtesy, just use everything you got.
Pull out every weapon and down that douche
So now you have the Magneboots, there’s a place that you can revisit; Veldin comes to mind.
Remember this, you know what to do!
Use your Predator Launcher or the Proton Drum to take out the Blargs on turrets
After using your second turret of the level to destroy the door to continue onward, gun-toting robots will emerge from the door. Your Predator Launcher will sink their battleship!
The Grindboot area (where the grindboots are) will put you at the center of a Blargian dropship, several gun-toting robots and Blargian commanders. Use all of your weapons to take care of these guys, your Predator Launcher alone won’t get the job done.
Lobster enemies roam the plains here. Introduce them to your Pyrocitor.
The boss here, a telepathopus, one of several, can be easily taken down by your Predator Launcher, and the Plasma Striker when you get it.
Fighting a Telepathopus requires brain work
Buy the Plasma Striker here, you’ll need it.
The Blargian brain scientist will want you to go scavenger hunting for brains, it’s a long and arduous task but it’s in your best interest to not leave Gaspar until he’s COMPLETELY appeased, it’s worth it! The easiest way to find all 60 brains is to use the jet pack to find the ones high up then get the ones that are low.
Start high then low, easiest way to do this
After your gallivant on Gaspar, you should have enough bolts to buy the Warmonger upon touching down here. If you don’t, you will possibly before you leave here but definitely after you leave.
You’ll be happy to have this, warbots beware!
Ignore Cora and explore every inch of the terrain before moving on with her to the next part; take your time. On that note, ride the rails first.
You’re going to see a lot of crates stacked up like stairs, don’t destroy the crates until you climb them to see where they lead or what they lead to; you’ll see this in Fort Krontos
Case in point!
The telepathopus make a return here, but this time you have more than the Plasma Striker; you have the Warmonger too. Use both and end their slime-infested lives
Use your Pyrocitor on the Puffoids you see
Looking to get to the top of the waterfall, go to this spot on the map; oh and you’ll need the O2 mask, so get that first.
Just go where the dot/pointer is, simple, yes
Okay, a few things you need to do. Return to Aridia and return to the agent’s camp. Next, return to Rilgar and the Blackwater City sewers for they hide a secret.
Now the secret is yours
Your next weapon, the Buzz Blades weapon is here. Buy it, you’ll need it.
Once you send Clank thru the vent, he’ll be on his own. Continue forward and you’ll see a holocard pack behind the grating. Here’s how to get it
Clank is owning Quartu starting with the card pack
You’ll battle Mrs. Zurkon here and she’s tough. Luckily, you’ll have ammo crates all over the place so don’t be afraid to fly around to collect ammo for your weapons. Oh, and the Warmonger is the only weapon you’ll need for this battle.
Deplanetizer Wing A
The Glove of Doom is here, buy it; it doesn’t say not to.
Drop ships are everywhere on this planet, use your Fusion Grenades to ground them for good; use your Warmonger if you run out of Fusion Grenades.
The hoverboard races here require your attention, a RYNO Holocard is said to be the spoils from the Gold Cup race, see to that and get that Holocard!
Make a special note to ride the grind rail, there are two items of interest you’ll want to get. Trust me, it’s worth it.
After you score the Map – o – Matic, look at your map and you’ll see items that you missed. Tear Kalebo III apart and get those items on the map and don’t leave until you do. Don’t forget to step on the teleporter that lies behind the Map – o – Matic glass container, you’ll be teleported to a holocard pack.
There’s a Gold Bolt on the race track that you can only access by going thru the rings. Observe!
The Gold Bolt is hidden no more
Pre Deplanetizer (final visit)
Now with the Map – o – Matic in hand, go back to each planet, starting backwards and strip them of all of their hidden items.
Deplanetizer (final visit)
You can activate the hologuise by pressing triangle button, you don’t have to run back to the hologuise platform to activate it.
Use the Warmonger to destroy the warbots here, use the Plasma Striker as backup when you run out of ammo for the Warmonger.
Get all the hidden items on the map including the last RYNO holocard. Head back to Rilgar to get the RYNO. Return to the Deplanetizer with RYNO in hand and end this.
The Final RYNO Holocard, up there!
When you’re facing off with Qwark, don’t use the RYNO because Qwark moves around too much; go with a weapon(s) that is more single target focused. I’ll leave the choice of weapons to your imagination.
Dr. Nefarious challenges you to mortal combat, get the RYNO in hand and tell him come get some!
Use the RYNO!
Final Note: Don’t use any other weapon other than the RYNO on Dr. Nefarious because it’ll level up quickly especially if you’re using it on Nefarious’ warbot minions that happen to be hanging around on the platforms. I managed to max out the RYNO before I killed Dr. Nefarious so its totally possible.
