If you’re a gamer that has played and beaten or are just playing Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, you’ll no doubt remember all the accessories that you find in the stages like a star pendant, shield ring, iceproof charm etc. However, these same items can be bought from the various vendors throughout the levels you travel to.

But, as many of you also know that spending money in this game in different parts of it can be very beneficial to the character you’re using. For example, if you need money for a HP boost then you might direct your attention to either the Pooka Kitchen or Maury’s.

Most accessories in the game are very powerful and has secondary and tertiary effects that boost your defense stat. What if you feel like you need more defense than you originally thought; would you be more or less in a bad position on your current game’s difficulty?

I’ve been playing the game long enough to know that it is so easy to become so enamored with building your defense that nothing else matters. The thing is though, buying high priced accessories from the vendors is not always practical as I will discuss in this post along with where else you could spend your money and what else to spend it on.

What used to be

When I first started playing Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, I had already known about the immediate threats and obstacles as well as enemies in the game from playing the game’s predecessor, Odin Sphere for PS2. When I got into playing Odin Sphere Leifthrasir seriously, I bought all of my accessories from the vendors.

I did this because I was always under the impression that the vendor-issued accessories were more powerful but it also meant that I had to spend more money, money that I could’ve been blowing on other things like material vials to make elixirs or elemental potions like Whirlwind, Volcano, Cyclone etc.

Whenever I found an accessory on a level, I would always sell it. My advice, when you find an accessory in a level or if you find two, don’t sell them under any circumstance. The rationale, the accessories you find get more powerful as you progress in the game. In the early parts of the game, you’ll find accessories that’ll give you a 5+ defense boost.

By the time you get to Volkenon’s Lava Pit or even Titania Capital, you’ll find accessories that give you a 30+ defense boost. What I’m saying is, be patient and play the game.

The accessories in the levels

The accessories in the levels is the key to your stalwart defense, it goes without saying that buying the accessories is a better course of action given whereever you’re going in the game, but you’re practically throwing money away when you could be using it for something else.

It took me a little while before I finally realized that the items that you buy from the vendors is powerful and will bestow you with the same effects as the accessories you find in the levels. The difference is that the accessories you find in the levels are ‘FREE!’ That’s right, that’s the be all, end all.

You can spend boo coo bucks on the accessories that the vendors have for sale but it is always going to be a fixture in the back of your mind of whether or not you’re doing more than you should; that thought has entered my mind more than once when I was playing the game recently.

My advice, stick to finding and equipping the items you find in the levels; they are all you need to keep from taking lethal damage from your enemies. And, if we’re being honest here, the difficulty of the game complements the difficulty of the level; they’re not going to sic a lv. 40 monster on you and you’re only a lv. 15.

Don’t spend money you don’t have to

The accessories at the vendors may get you to a point where you might become tantalized by its defense boost and its overall effect which is okay if you’re into shiny things or objects as it were. However, spending money you don’t have to is still a really for real possibility as many of us gamers know.

Save your money and come here

Instead of spending money on that accessory that you feel is going to save you or protect you, I’d blow it on other things like Maury’s Kitchen (hit the bell). Also, the vendors have food items that you can and should buy for the recipes that you find for Maury; the meals that Maury makes are among the most elegant and potent in the entire game.

Also, the shrimp is going to become available and it is going to be needed in many recipes that you’ll also find if you made the decision to save the food item for your next roundabout with Maury. Don’t get too caught up in spending money on the accessories that the vendors are selling.

There are other items that require your attention like certain food items that you’ll need to complete recipes which should be adhered to because your defense will mean nothing if you’re not growing your HP pool. Think about it!

Pooka Kitchen

My favorite place in the game, it is a haven, a sanctuary and an all around great place to blow ALL of your cash and coins. Pooka Kitchen is THE place to taste the finest dishes in the game and spend a good fortune doing so. The reason, your HP total will grow substantially.

If you’re still hellbent on buying accessories from the vendor then my advice is that you don’t spend all of your money because anytime you see that blue portal, I advise you to enter it and spend everything that you have on the food there because you’ll come out of there feeling stronger and more powerful.

Take it from me, Pooka Kitchen is worth the investment not only because you can a great meal with some dessert to boot, but you can also eat the same meal more than once and the Ariel and Commemorative coins are the ‘big game’ when you go to Pooka Kitchen.

Don’t forget to go to Rabbit Cafe too, their desserts are just as potent as Pooka Kitchen’s meals and dinners; that’s worth the monetary expenditure; mind this always.

The accessories you find within the levels start off weak which might drive one to think about investing in the vendor brand accessories. However, doing this will only break you in the long run and your monetary supplies will be diminished. Seek the accessories in the levels, they get more powerful as you progress in the game.

Don’t spend money you don’t have to because that money can go toward Pooka Kitchen and Rabbit Cafe; building your defense is good but having a great amount of HP to back it is better. What do you think of my post on the game, do you think I’m right or wrong, are you simply neutral? Leave me a message and I’ll get back to you immediately. Thank you and Happy gaming.

R.J’s Last Minute Tip

I made a video to further emphasize my point that you don’t need a big defense to conquer simple enemies. Observe!

Thank you for the info. I know how easy it is to spend money on this game. You get excited and the next thing you know you are hitting the buy button. Your article is going to save me a ton of money!  I will be back to pick up some more tips:)

    • Rodney McGillRodney McGill

Thanks Caterina, I’m glad that I can help. If we’re being honest here, the accessories get expensive especially the +2 variations.

  2. Tommy PotterTommy Potter

I agree with you. I am a fan of several role-playing video games, and as you advance in level, you want to get more articles to gain more power and keep achieving goals. Until you reach a point where you can not move as fast as you want and then the option that seems most appropriate is to buy objects. But that starts a chain reaction where you can spend large sums of money

    • Rodney McGillRodney McGill

Yes indeed Tommy, its better to actually just find them in the levels because if we’re being honest here, you’ll be happy you did once you get to the end where you’re facing off against the boss and destroying them with ease.

I haven’t tried this game yet but, I’ll definitely use this page as a great reference if I do!

Honestly, I adore RPG games but, I have a tendency to lose days worth of time when I get deep into them ha!

R.J. it’s about time someone has a site that caters to more than one game.  A lot has changed since I first played Fable I (yes, I know it’s ancient now lolz.)  I get lost easily and, end up searching for answers sometimes longer than I actually get to play while knowing what the heck I’m doing!

    • Rodney McGillRodney McGill

Don’t feel bad fyre, I’ve done the same thing which is why I created my Ultimate Game Guide which was a big motivational tool for building my website. I want to cater to not just the average gamer but gamers that did not want to spend hours looking for answers on other websites that might be glitchy or just flat out problematic. My website is a one stop shop.

      • fyrepoWAfyrepoWA

That’s rad Rodney! I know a lot of people will really appreciate your massive time-saving advice!

        • Thanks fyrepoWA, I’m glad you appreciate it, I do what I do for people like you that appreciate it and I’m happy to do it.

I agree with your analysis and rationale in this post. This is a great game and provides hours of entertainment. You can waste money unless you know what you are doing. The Odin Sphere Leifthrasir game is a popular game for good reasons, but no need to throw away your money having fun!

Why spend when vendor provided accessories will do, as you say, as over time the power they provide will become much more powerful, and you can get through the game without selling them too, with good play. This leaves you money for more delectable things like a meal in a food place…

The Pooka Kitchen and Rabbit Cafe have some excellent choices that as you say, can give you that HP boosts you can also use. These will give you the power to continue on and do better. The meals and desserts are good and helpful, no doubt.

The video you have included was entertaining, thanks for including it in the post! Entertaining and showed that you can save the money for the food places while progressing. Good add, and thanks for this post, I enjoyed it a lot!

    • Rodney McGillRodney McGill

Thanks Dave, I’m happy you were able to take a lot from it and if we’re being honest, having your HP high before your characters’ book end is king because their HP will be everything when they face their Armageddon boss in the Armageddon chapter.

For starters, it is always a mistaken belief that you need to beef up your defenses by buying accessories from vendors. Another mistake that you pointed out is selling accessories found in level 1. While it may sound rational to the beginner, in reality, you’ll be losing valuable resources that could make you several times powerful as you progress to more difficult stages.Boosting your defense is cool, and so is buying the required food items that will make you more potent. This is a completely summarized write-up on the game. When next I jump on my toy, I’ll like to see what difference it makes to save some money for the Pooka kitchen and Rabbit café.

    • Rodney McGillRodney McGill

Wow, well said Phranell and I like how you challenged me; very nice! I’ve eaten at both the Rabbit Cafe and the Pooka kitchen and there are HP gain differences when you eat at both; follow your path and tell me exactly what your findings are so we can compare notes. I look forward to our next interaction.
