In this game, there are Crystal Skulls that, when you find them, will allow Muramasa to sell you his items at a lower price. The trick to finding them is to explore your surroundings; the surrounding environment is the key to getting to them so keep your eyes peeled.
For example, if you see a Crystal Skull on a platform or a part of the environment that is standing out in plain sight, there’s a good chance that the wall next to you or across from you will allow you to get it.
Case in point
Don’t hesitate to use your shurikens on your enemies; it’ll distract them long for you to carve them up. Furthermore, your shurikens help you while you figure out creative ways to kill your enemies using the special moves of the weapon in your possession.
When you fight the Black Spider Ninjas, try to cut off their legs then finish them with the Triangle button. The animation of the kill is too funny for words.
The Phantom Warlocks must be dealt with first in any crowd they come with. Ninpo or close range combat is key to bringing them down. The rationale: Their disappearing and reappearing act can complicate any battle especially if you don’t have a lot of health, get rid of them first always!
The annoyances lie in the lower right hand box
The Lunar Staff is ideal when you’re feeling surrounded and can’t get yourself free of enemies with the Dragon Sword alone; it’s a game changer in crowds. Don’t not use it i.e. use it!
The Lunar Staff comes in handy here
Throughout your adventure, you’ll get tons of new weapons. Don’t get into the habit of using one or two the whole game, use and switch them out as you’re moving around about the levels. I would say change weapons after every 2 to 3 battles. The reason, you’ll get more into the game that way.
Enemy-wise, this will not solve every problem
The archers in this game should be dealt with using your Ninpo, your bow & arrow or your cannon. Close combat with them just means more loss of life for you.
The Vigoorian Flails is the weapon of choice when you’re dealing with quick enemies like the claw Spider ninjas. The Phantom Warlocks and the sword carrying dogs are perfect targets for this weapon also
Whenever you get a Jewel of Demon Seal, it’s up to you to decide which Ninpo to upgrade; it’s a matter of personal choice not obligatory demand
The Enma’s Fang is a weapon you should use against tough enemies like werewolves, black alien demons and other tough baddies. Some bosses have been known to take lethal damage from it such as the Statue of Liberty on Stage 4, A Captive Goddess.
You’ll need the Enma’s Fang for Volf, he’s a toughie
The Dragon Claws are ideal in dealing with fast enemies ex. the Gaja on Stage 6, The Aqua Capital. A bit of advice, upgrade them to level 2 before using them; using them at level 1 is a little more complicated in my opinion
The blades are good for close quarter combat
The Falcon’s Talons are THE weapons if you’re looking to cause big damage in a small amount of time.
The speed of the Falcon’s Talon is enough to put down fast enemies
The Kusari-gama is the weapon you want to use when you’re dealing with slow enemies or enemies that can’t help but surround you like the bone spiders on Stage 7, The Lycanthropes’ Castle
A great weapon for smaller enemies
After getting your first Ninpo, two claw wearing Black Spider Ninjas will drop in. You can deal with them by throwing them by pressing Square + X button. Or, if you want to use the Ninpo to destroy them then that’s cool too.
Your Dragon Sword is a potent weapon to use on all Archfiend bosses, use it; the combos are lethal on Archfiend enemies.
Look at the damage it’s doing to Alexei, a greater fiend
The Eclipse Scythe weapon is a great close combat weapon ideal for dealing with those pesky mechs on the Daedalus and future mech enemies. Seemingly, it makes Ryu less likely to get knocked back as he’s using it, but more when he’s charging it up.
Zedonius is getting his fill
Your dash is a very powerful technique, it’ll allow you to avoid attacks from your enemies if timed right. Press and hold L1 and move the L.A.S. in any different direction; you’re invincible when using it.
Don’t hesitate to use your Howling Cannon at a distance on the roving mechs if you don’t feel like dealing with them up close and want to conserve health while running around on the Daedalus.
Very effective on mech enemies
When Ayane is on deck, use her Flash Kunai(s) to deal explosive damage to the werewolves she encounters; it can be used to create weaknesses on the werewolves so they can be taken out quickly. Use a couple of them on the ninjas if you’re looking to rip their limbs off in a hurry so they can be taken care of quicker.
Stage 12 Heart of Darkness
Ryu will be up against soldiers using mortars and rocket launchers. Ryu’s Inferno Ninpo will lay waste to these annoyances.
Stage 15 Quickening Devastation
This level is home to new and improved mech enemies which you’ll come across not long after you start the level, use the Eclipse Scythe’s Ultimate Attack and lay waste to them at a distance if possible, but use it nonetheless for it is effective.
Use the Lunar Staff on Marbus(black and gold Archfiend boss) because his entourage will help him in battle and the Lunar Staff will keep them at bay.
Look at that, they’re just handing it to you
When Volf shows up with his centaur entourage, use your Inferno Ninpo to wipe them out; it would help if your Inferno Ninpo was at least level 3 but level 2 will take them out with minimal difficulty as well.
Stage 17 Poisoned Blood
Dagra Dai will challenge you to mortal combat, use the Blade of the Archfiend and your Inferno Ninpo; it’ll keep Dagra Dai’s minions at bay.
Use your Howling Cannon on the Archfiend’s head then on the glowing bulb on his belly. Do your best to dash away from the bloody vomit of the Archfiend, it’s somewhat difficult to avoid.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is one of the best games ever made for the PS3, but it is not without its challenges; having the right weapon and strategy will turn the tide in your favor.
